A High-level Political Committee Of Four Major Parties

March 17, 2013: UCPN-Maoist, NC, CPN-UML and UDMF set up a ‘High-level Political Committee’ presided over by Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda to help the Interim Election Council. The eight-member committee has two each from the four political parties. Chairman Prachanda and his Deputy Dr Baburam Bhattarai represent the UCPN-Maoist on the committee, President of NC Sushil Koirala, and senior NC leader Sher Bahadur Deuba represent NC, Chairman Jhalanath Khanal of CPN-UML and his Deputy Bamdev Gautam represent CPN-UML, and finally Bijaya Gacchedar, and Mahanta Thakur represent UDMF, according to the ‘gorkhapatra’ news of today.
Each of the four parties holds the office of the Chairman of the high-level political committee in rotation. Each party will have a month of the office of the chairman, and then pass on to the second largest party in the dissolved CA. Next month the NC will take the office of the Chairman of the high-level political committee, and so on.
