Three Negative Decisions Of The Government
By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu
February 2, 2010: making three negative decisions, the current government headed by the backdoor Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has shown the regressive characters.
First, the Minister for Information and Communication has announced no more new FM radio stations in the Kathmandu Valley denying the fundamental rights of the citizens to engage in the business of providing the citizenry with information. The Ministry would not issue any license to operate FM stations in the Kathmandu Valley. This is the regressive step of the most incompetent government the Nepalis have so far.
Second, the most incompetent Minister for Energy Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has written a letter to the Minister for Supplies for forbidding the import of inverters saying inverters have consumed more energy making the need for additional outage. Instead of generating power for mitigating the shortage of power, the Minister for Energy has shown negative attitude to the people denying them to use inverters whenever the main power supply goes off. Invertors charge batteries and store energy for the use during the outage. The Minister’s decision on stopping import of inverters would increase the import of inverters bypassing the custom office.
Third, the Ministry of Finance has ordered the state-run company Nepal Telecom to stop the payment of remuneration to the staffs they have been receiving. Nepal Telecom is the largest state-run company and pays the highest tax to the government. It employs six thousands staffs. Customers of the Nepal Telecom anticipate the shutdown of the businesses, as the staffs of the Nepal Telecom would surely call for a shutdown of the businesses in protest against the government’s decision on stopping the payment of remuneration to them.
