Humiliating Defeat Of Madhesi Due To Corruption

Issue 49, December 1, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

December 1, 2013: Speaking at a press meet held by the Press Chautari Nepal at his residence in Gaur yesterday, senior leader of CPN-UML Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the Nepalis rejected single ethnic identity-based federalism, and also the Madhesi parties' demand for ‘one Madhes one province’ in the elections to the second Constituent Assembly. He also said that the attempt to separate Pahad from Madhes and disturbing social harmony fell on the stony ground, according to the RSS new on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.

He also opined that the involvement of Madhesi leaders in corruption and power politics handed them a humiliating defeat in the election.

Stating UCPN-Maoist and Madhesi parties agenda failed in the election, he said that the people had given mandate to the NC and CPN-UML to work together to write a new constitution. He claimed that the people directed the UCPN-Maoist to go with the CPN-UML on social change agendas.

Mr. Nepal viewed that people last time gave a chance to the UCPN-Maoist to be responsible and change itself into a reliable democratic force.
