No Possibility Of A Consensus Government Under Koirala

Issue 02, Janaury 13, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

January 12, 2013: the UCPN-Maoist leaders have made it clear that a consensus government headed by NC President Sushil Koirala was not acceptable. They told the CPN-UML leaders at the meeting held at the Lazimpat residence of Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda today.

The NC and CPN-UML leaders have said that then they have no alternative to launching a protest movement to topple the current government. However, they have not shown any guts to do so. General Secretary of the NC Prakash Man Singh told the reporters that his party would adopt the policy on both continuing the talks on a consensus government and launching street protests. While another NC leader Sujata Koirala has been telling the NC leaders to join the current government to break the political deadlock and then hold elections to a new CA setting aside the ambition of taking the prime ministerial office.

The CPN-UML has floated an idea of finding out another candidate for a consensus government, as NC President Sushil Koirala was not acceptable to the ruling coalition of the UCPN-Maoist and the UDMF but the NC leaders have stuck to the candidate of NC President Koirala for a consensus government,

Other NC leaders such as Ram Chandra Poudel and Dr Ram Sharan Mahat have been madly asking the head of state to discharge the current prime minister and appoint the NC President as a new prime minister. CPN-UML Leader KP Oli also has told the reporters that the head of state could appoint a new prime minister. However, the head of state President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has made it clear to these power junkies that he is not going to step over the constitutional boundary and the politicians should resolve the political problems.
