Madhav Nepal Holding House Session A Hostage
By KTM Metro Reporter
December 5, 2010: addressing a Mid-Western Regional Assembly of the Press Chautari Nepal in Dang, western Nepal, officiating Minister for Information and Communications Shankar Pokharel has said on Saturday, December 04, 2010 that the government is ready to call the House session at any time if the major opposition UCPN-Maoist shows its commitment to endorse the budget through parliamentary procedure, ‘The Himalayan Times’ writes.
It makes clear that officiating Madhav Nepal is holding the House session a hostage demanding the UCPN-Maoist legislators do what he wants. If the officiating minister’s words are truly uttered then Nepalis need to stop thinking of seeing the House session running any time in the future. Every sensible person knows that the UCPN-Maoist legislators have violently stopped the officiating Finance Minister from presenting the budget for FY 2010 at the House session. So seeking endorsement of the budget from them means making an excuse to continue the unconstitutional authority of the unelected Madhav Nepal.
