Corruption At Various Agencies in Nepal

Talking to journalists at a press conference held by Revolutionary Journalists’ Association at Simara Airport on July 05, 2008, Minister for Forest and Soil Conservation, Matrika Prasad Yadav said corruption has been institutionalized in Nepal and the country has been run by contractors according to ‘The Rising Nepal’ of July 06, 2008. Minister Yadav said that contractors controlled even the Prime Minister. He said that actions should be taken even against the journalists, as most of the journalists were corrupt.
An advisory committee set up by Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has recommended NBA to launch concerted action-oriented efforts against the increasing corruption in the judiciary according to Kantipur Report, July 07, 2008. After studying the complaints received from different quarters of society, the advisory committee comprising former NBA presidents, secretary-generals, incumbent presidents and secretaries of valley-based NBA branches made the recommendation at the end of the meeting held on Sunday, July 06. The advisory committee also suggested NBA to set up a secretariat for studying judgments passed by courts across the country and then referring wrong judgments to the Judicial Council and the Constituent Assembly for necessary actions.
On Sunday, July 06, 2008, presenting a paper at a program on Administrative Justice and Implementation of Civil Service Act, Secretary to the General Administration Ministry, Dr. Govind Prasad Kusum said, "The complicated and ineffective departmental action in civil service has boosted the morale of those who do wrong things and dampened the morale of those who work better.
