No season for a Movement

Issue 33, August 16, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On August 10, 2009, speaking at the inaugural function of ‘Teaching Hospital and Research Center’ set up by the Gandaki Medical College in Pokhara, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has said that it is not the season for launching a people’s movement; it is the time to write a constitution; there is no reason for such a movement. He also said that the Maoists have not been able to run the government and are not allowing others to run the government.

At the same time, in Kathmandu Vice-chairman of UCPN-Maoist Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has said that it has been the mistake of his party to make Madhav Nepal the chairman of the Constitutional Committee showing sympathy for him; the government of most of the ministers defeated in the elections is not endorsed by the people at all; the movement will continue until the suzerainty of the people is established.
