September 10, 2013: Nepal Infrastructure Development Limited Company is starting off the construction of the fast rack between Kathmandu and Hetauda with some tunnels at various areas after the Hindu festival called Tihar, according to the news on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com’.
According to the company, the construction has been delayed due to the failure in mobilizing the required resources at least Rs 500 million for starting off the construction from the non-resident Nepalis. Obviously, it has mobilized the resources and the construction is going to start in November this year.
The fast track is going to be constructed under the principles of the public-private partnership. The State also puts some money in this project.
The estimated cost of the fast track is Rs 20 billion. After the completion of this fast track, vehicles take only one hour to reach Hetauda from Kathmandu. The distance to be traveled is only 50 Km. Each vehicle will need to pay a toll of certain amount for traveling on this fast track. The toll might be several hundred rupees but it is worth paying the amount as the savings of travel time, fuel and wear and tear of vehicles will be number of times more than the toll payment.
