Jail Sentence for Pojaman Shinawatra

On Thursday, July 31, 2008, the Thai Court convicted Pojaman Shinawatra, wife of the former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra of tax evasion and sentenced her to three years in jail. She was released on bail of $149,000. The court also sentenced her brother and her maid to three years in prison. After ousting Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in September 2006, the junta had initiated court cases against him and his family members and associates.
