Prime Minister and Other Ministers On A Bus Ride

Issue 41, October 11, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On October 7, 2009, at about 4:00 PM, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal boarded on a tourist bus that obviously has come to pick him up at the eastern gate of the State Secretariat, and joined others ministers and high-level officials on board the bus. The bus took the dignitaries to Tripuresvore, Kalimati, Kalanki, then turned to the right on the Ringroad and passed through Balaju, Maharajgunj and then turned to the right and brought the Prime Minister back to the Secretariat.

Different people have speculated the Prime Minister’s bus ride differently. The simplest version of the speculation is that the Prime Minister and ministers have taken the tourist bus ride to have the first hand knowledge of the traffic situation, traffic management, waste management and the state of other urban infrastructures.

However, it might not be the only goal of the Prime Minister’s bus ride because everybody knows that these guys before being ministers and high-level officials have pretty much idea of the traffic, waste management and condition of infrastructures. In addition, they have been experiencing the traffic problems almost every day while going back and forth between the offices and their residences.
