Benefits Of SAARC Summit

November 13, 2011: talking to reporters upon arrival at the airport in Kathmandu yesterday night from the SAARC summit held in the Maldives, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has said that the head of states and foreign observers participating at the 17th SAARC summit have appreciated the seven-point deal the Nepalese political leaders have reached on November 01, 2011; he also has had talks with US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Robert Blake participating at the 17th SAARC summit in the Addu city of the Maldives; Mr. Blake has appreciated the seven-point deal and the US has initiated the official procedure of removing the name of the Nepalese Maoists from the list of terrorists.

The prime minister has said that the SAARC summit has been successful in the sense that the South Asian leaders have agreed on removing the barriers to the trade following the SAFTA to facilitate the movements of the people and goods for the economic progress of the member states.

Deputy Prime Minister Bijya Gacchedar and Speaker Subash Nemwang have received the prime minister at the airport.
