On April 16, the Maoist leaders declared that the future government led by them would give a top priority to the economic revolution following the principles of capitalism. Maoists’ Chairman Prachanda has said that a new Nepal would be built on an economic revolution pushing everybody to work hard to this end. He also appealed to the private sector for trusting his party fully and giving it a chance to work together. He has made it clear that the government his party would lead will expand the tax base, eliminate red tape, and end the culture of commissions and corruption.
Maoists’ Second-in-Command Dr Baburam Bhattarai has said that the true concept of Marxism is to wipe out feudalism and build an economy based on the capitalist principles. He assured the business community of turning over the responsibility for leading the economic revolution, and of removing any hurdles in the way to this revolution, and of creating an atmosphere conducive to investment.
