Afghan Soldier Kills Three British Gurkhas

July 13, 2010: a member of the Afghan National Army has killed three soldiers from the First Battalion of ‘The Royal Gurkha Rifles Battle Group’ in Helmand Province of Afghanistan today morning. The killer has escaped in darkness and is still on the run.

President Hamid Karzai has apologized to the British Army for the loss of three lives and injury inflicted on others. The British Army spokesman has said that this sad loss strengthens the British Army’s resolve to work closely with the Afghan forces in order to stabilize Afghanistan and strengthen its government according to the press release of the British Embassy in Nepal.

The three British soldiers killed by an Afghan soldier are Nepalis serving in the British Army. Nepalis have been serving in the British Army since nineteen century after the British-Nepal war in which Nepalis showed their incredible bravery. Since then, the British army has been recruiting Nepalis. Nepalis serving in the British Army have fought in the Falkland war, Iraq, elsewhere the British has had a war and currently fighting in Afghanistan.
