Completing The Peace Process A Major Question

Issue 40, October 2, 2011

By KTM METRO Reporter

September 30, 2011: Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda yesterday has said that the intra-party dispute in his party would not hamper the peace and constitution writing rather he has been holding talks with leaders of different political parties to come up to the concrete decision on this issue before the end of the great Hindu festival Dashain, ‘The Rising Nepal’ of today writes.

The newspaper quotes Prachanda, "Just yesterday I had held discussions with Nepali Congress president and I realized that we are near agreement to move forward and conclude the peace process. It would really give good news to all including the business community in the context of happy Dashain if we political parties could make agreement on these vital issues before the great festival. If we cannot take concrete decisions to conclude peace process and constitution within two months, the country would plunge into a crisis."

Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal yesterday has said that the Dr. Baburam Bhattarai-led government has not moved a single step to complete the peace process and the constitution writing following the 45-day timeline.

‘The Rising Nepal’ of today quotes Jhalanath Khanal, "Works relating to the peace process came to a complete halt. There is not clear signal that this government will be able to finish the twin historic tasks. This has further justified the relevance of national consensus.”
