Setting Up Federal Democratic Alliance

Issue 33, August 12, 2012

By KTM Metro Reporter

August 10, 2012: talking to reporters after attending the program of the Lokgatha Samaj in Kathmandu today, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda said that the Federal Democratic Alliance (FDA) was set up to ensure federalism with identity and a constitution with federalism following the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007, writes ‘The Himalayan Times’.

Chairman Prachanda said that the ruling coalition partners made a decision on setting up a FDA at the meeting held at the official residence of the prime minister yesterday, as such an alliance had been a felt-need to come out of the current political entanglement; it was not formed against any political force but only to ensure the people’s rights.

NC and CPN-UML would join this alliance if they were true democrats as they claimed to be. However, in view of their current activities of toppling the Bhattarai government clearly indicated that they were not for following the constitution as required by the democratic principles but for grabbing the power by following any possible means. This is called a Jung-bahadur style, as Jung-bahadur killed even his maternal uncle to ensure his promotion to a higher rank making a dark blot in his family history.
