In a joint operation, Pakistani and American intelligence forces have captured one of the Taliban’s top military commanders Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar in Karachi, Pakistan.
Mullah Baradar is believed to be only second man to Mullah Muhammad Omar in command. One-eyed man Mr. Omar is the founder of Taliban and had chose to fight with US military rather than turning over Osama bin Laden to Americans when he as the head of state of Afghanistan in 2002.
Last year Mullah Baradar helped other Taliban leaders in issuing a pocketsize “code of conduct” for Taliban fighters. Obviously, the Taliban leaders wanted to improve the conduct of the Taliban fighters for winning hearts and minds of the civilians.
It is believed that the interrogation of Mullah Baradar will reveal much useful information on the Taliban fighters in Afghanistan and Pakistan. The capture of Mullah Baradar indicates that Pakistani intelligence has seriously started cooperating with the US on capturing the Taliban leaders.
