Meetings Among Different Personalities In Nepal

July 3, 2012: at the meeting of the leaders of UCN-Maoist and UDMF held at the Prime Minister’s Baluwatar official residence in Kathmandu, they agreed on Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai would resign only if the parties agreed to resolve all contentious issues in a package deal means resolving the constitution drafting, the CA elections and the formation of a new government. They said that UCPN-Maoist and UDMF would not backtrack from their stand on promulgating a new constitution with the identity-based federalism through the CA. They also said that the new constitution should be promulgated through the CA not through a round table meeting or any commission.

At the meeting with the chiefs of the Gorkhapatra Corporation, Nepal Television, Radio Nepal and Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) held at the Prime Minister’s office in Singha Durbar, Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai yesterday assured them of the government empowering the state owned news media financially by providing advertisements, and urged them to give a priority to the government policies and programs at the same time giving due space to the opposition voices in their public reportings.

President of NC Sushil Koirala yesterday went to see President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav to inform about the NC not accepting the budget for the FY 2012 through the presidential ordinance without a political consensus. After the meeting with the president, Mr. Koirala told the reporters that the President should take the steps to form a consensus government and build a political consensus on the budget through the presidential ordinance; so, he urged President Yadav not to accept the budget through the presidential ordinance if it was done without a political consensus; and warned the President of the opposition parties taking the issue of the budget to the streets if the government introduced the new budget without a political consensus.

At the meeting held at his Lazimpat residence with the delegation of Federation of Nepal Chamber of Commerce And Industry (FNCCI) yesterday, Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda assured them of a full-fledged budget for the FY 2012, as the national economy should not suffer due to the political reasons. The delegation appealed to Chairman Prachanda for promulgating a full-fledged budget by building a political consensus. Minister for Finance Barsaman Pun was also present at the meeting. Today, Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai met with the ethnic leaders belonging to various political parties to discuss the current political situation. These leaders have been demanding an identity-based federalism. They have agreed on forming a cross-party joint front to press for an identity-based federalism. More than 30 ethnic leaders including Vice-chairman of CPN-UML Ashok Rai, CPN-UML politburo member Prithivi Subba Gurung, DB Lama, Malla K. Sundar, Chairman of Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) Raj Kumar Lekhi, former Chairman of NEFIN Dr Om Gurung, former Minister Rakam Chemjong, Minak Lal Shrestha, Indra Kumar Gurung, and Pari Thapa, according to nepalnews.com
