Legislator Ram Kumar Sharma Quits Constituent Assembly

August 19, 2010: legislator and UCPN-Maoist central committee member Ram Kumar Sharma has submitted his resignation letter to the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly on Wednesday, August 18, 2010 following the advice of the Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda after his mother party Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) has requested the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly to remove him from the membership of the Constituent Assembly, as he is no longer the member of the TMDP.

Legislator Ram Kumar Sharma has been complaining about the repeated telephone calls from the man named Das from the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu threatening him with death if he does not go back to his mother party TMDP.

After Ram Kumar Sharma has officially complained to the Chairman of the Constituent Assembly about the threatening of the Indian Embassy official with the taking of his life, the TMDP has initiated the action against Sharma.

Recently, UCPN-Maoist has lost two legislators: Ram Kumar Sharma by resignation and
Ram Kumari Yadav by death caused by accidentally burning her body. Both of them are from the Tarai.
