April 29, 2013: speaking at a regular press meet held at the party’s central office in Parisdanda yesterday, spokesperson for UCPN-Maoist Agni Sapkota said that an alternative to the current government would be sought if it were to fail in holding elections to a Constituent Assembly (CA) by November this year. He alleged that the government was rather preoccupied with unnecessary activities rather than announcing the election date immediately. “There is a growing speculation among the people about the possibility of election,” said Sapkota, reiterating that other alternatives would be sought if the Interim Election Council of Ministers failed to keep its promise, according to the news posted on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com of today.

Speaking to the reporters at the Bharatpur Airport yesterday, Vice-president of NC Ram Chandra Poudel urged all to believe that the Constituent Assembly (CA) elections would be held within the third week of November; and the election date would be set just a 100 days before the elections, according to the news posted on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com of today.

Speaking at the 13th National Engineers’ Conference held by the Nepal Engineers' Association yesterday, Chairman of Interim Election Council of Ministers Khil Raj Regmi urged the political parties opposing the second Constituent Assembly elections to come to dialogue with the government; and requested the opposing political parties to cooperate with the government and participate in the elections. He said, “The government is desperate to announce election date as early as possible. It is aware of its responsibility," according to the news posted on ‘gorkhapatraonline.com of today.

Spokesman for the Election Commission Madhu Prasad Regmi said that publishing a notice in the state-run newspaper ‘gorkhapatra’ today, the EC has called upon the political parties to register their parties with the EC for the purpose of the elections following the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007, and the Election Act of 2007, and political-party registration for the purpose of election rules. The EC has opened the registration of the political parties participating in the elections from April 30, 2013 to May 29, 2013. All the political parties previously registered at the EC need to register again but they don’t need to provide the 10,000 signatures; only the new parties need to submit 10,000 signatures.
