Protest March Against Fake Hybrid Rice Seeds

September 17, 2013: All Nepal Revolutionary Farmers' Federation of Bhaktapur has held a protest march of the farmers that have used the hybrid rice seeds brought from China, and that have the rice crops wilted due to the fake hybrid rice seeds, according to the RSS news posted on the ‘gorkhapatraonline.com.’
Farmers carrying rice plants that have wilted, marched through the different parts of the Bhaktapur district demanding the compensation for the loss of the rice crops due to the fake hybrid rice seeds brought from China to Nepal, and reached the district administration office, and turned over a memorandum to the Chief District Officer (CDO).
The farmers in the memorandum to the CDO have demanded the compensation for the loss of the rice crops, and the strong actions against the seed producing company Deyu Seed Company Ltd., Sichuan, China and its local authorized dealer Kasthamandap Point, according to chairman of the Revolutionary Farmers' Association of Bhaktapur Govinda Duwal.
