Women Reporters Serving Balanced Food to Tika Bista

December 13, 2009: women reporters have been taking a turn to serve balanced food to the woman reporter Tika Bista attacked and severely injured by a group of unidentified people in Rukum on Saturday, December 12, 2009. The local YCL cadres have repeatedly threatened her to take her life for an article written apparently against the Maoists according to the media reports. Doctors at the Model Hospital in Kathmandu have said that she has been out of danger, and she is doing fine.

At the same time, the police have taken 11 people including the local YCL chief in custody for questioning in Rukum where a group of unidentified people has attacked Tika Bista according to the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of December 13, 2009.

Reporters across the country have been demanding the government take strong actions against the perpetrators of violence against the reporters and the government provide them with security.
