Indian criminals Infiltrating into Nepal

On January 22, 2008, speaking at a press meet held by the Reporters' Club, Lumbini, Nepalese Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Shyam Sundar Gupta said that Indian criminal groups have infiltrated into the ongoing disturbances in the Terai region of Nepal according to ‘The Rising Nepal’ of January 23, 2008. The minister said that the protesting groups have been hiring criminal groups from the bordering Indian state called Bihar to create anarchy and carry out killing, abductions, terror and extortions in the Terai region of Nepal. Minister Gupta said he has been in touch with some of the protesting groups in the Terai, and the Government of Nepal would resolve the problem through dialogue in the Terai.
