Issue 10, March 10, 2013

By KTM Metro Reporter

March 4, 2013: The Nepal Petroleum Dealers' Association (NPDA) has decided to stop purchasing petroleum products from Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) from today, if the government were to ignore their demands. The Association demanded the government make an arrangement for smooth supply of the petroleum products, stop the increasing insecurity and donation terror and address the petroleum workers’ problems among others, according to Gorkhapatraonline.com news of today.

General Secretary to the Association Biswa Prasad Aryal said that they were compelled to cancel the deal with Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) as it failed to implement the past agreements. He informed that the Association has informed the Office of the Prime Minister, Ministry of Commerce and Supplies and NOC concerning their decision on stopping to purchase petroleum products from the NOC from Monday.

The 2,200 petrol pumps operating in the country including 200 in the Kathmandu Valley would stop working from today if the NOC were not to meet their demands. However, most of the gasoline stations have stopped working, as the NOC failed to supply petroleum products. The petroleum transporters have refused to transport petroleum products because of the death of a co-driver, according to the ‘gorkhapatra’ news of today.
