British Minister’s Nepal Visit and Financial Aid

British Minister for International Development for Asia Shahid Mallik visited Nepal from Friday, June 20 to Sunday, June 22, 2008, and met with Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Chairman of CPN-Maoist Prachanda, General Secretary of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal, and Leader of Madheshi People’s Right Forum Upendra Yadav. He also visited some areas where the British has implemented development projects.

The British Government disclosed $55 million financial assistance for construction of rural roads in Nepal believing the rural roads help alleviate the rural poor.
