Signing Off Altogether Eight Agreements, And Memorandum Of Understandings

January 15, 2012: Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jianbao had made a quick visit to Nepal yesterday. During his stay in Nepal for four hours and some minutes, both parties had succeeded to sign off four agreements and four memorandums of understanding.

In presence of prime ministers of both Nepal and China, foreign ministers of both the countries signed off agreements on: 1) management of ports on the border between Nepal and China, 2) benefits of using the grazing land by the people living in the border areas, 3) exchange of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries; similarly, ministers of finance signed off agreement on 4) promotion of economical and technical Cooperation between Nepal and China, and memorandum of understandings on: 5) setting up a training academy for armed police, 6) providing Nepal Police with necessary materials including equipment, 7) providing Nepal with loans on concession, and 8) setting up a mechanism for managing loans and cultural exchanges.

Then, Nepalese Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai held a state banquet for the Chinese prime minister at Singhadurbar. Chairman of UCPN-Maoist Prachanda, President of NC Sushil Koirala, Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal, Chairman of TMDP Mahant Thakur and other political leaders were present in the banquet; Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jianbao held a joint meeting with all these political leaders at Singhadurbar ‘gorkhapatra’ of today writes.

After the banquet at Singhadurbar, Chinese Prime Minister Wen Jianbao drove to the official residence of President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and exchanged pleasantries. At that time, Nepalese president repeated the Nepal’s stand on one-China policy. Thereafter, the Chinese prime minister drove straight to the airport for flying to Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia.
