Special Court forwarded the governor's Corruption case to the Supreme Court

Issue 08, February 24, 2008

The three-member bench comprising Judges Bhoop Dhoj Adhikary, Komal Nath Sharma and Cholendra SJB Rana of the Special Court could not make decision on the corruption case filed against the governor of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Bijaya Nath Bhattarai by the Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) and forwarded the case to the Supreme Court of Nepal on Sunday, February 17, 2008.

Chief Judge of the Special Court Bhoop Dhoj Adhikary is of the opinion that further evidences are required for ruling on the case. Judge Cholendra SJB Rana believes that there is sufficient evidence to pass a sentence on the guilty. Judge Komal Nath Sharma thinks that the case does not have enough strength and suggests clearing the suspect in the case of all charges.

The Special Court has deferred the ruling on the case several times, and has acquired additional information on the case from the Sri Lankan Company involved in this case.
