Finance Minister Preparing New Budget

On August 26, 2008, talking to the members of the Chambers pf Commerce and Industry in Kathmandu, Finance Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai said that his ministry people have been working days and nights for preparing a new budget, and also said the new budget would be presented to the legislative assembly within the Nepalese month called Bhadra (August-September). He assured the members of Chamber that the Government would not expropriate the private investments; so they could invest their capital in the Nepalese industries and businesses without any worry.

The Finance Minister said that the new budget will have the provision for increasing the salaries of the lower level State employees so that their salaries would be enough for supporting their families; also will have the provision for alleviating the sufferings of the conflict victims and the families of the people killed in the conflict.

The Finance Minister also said that the current one-dollar per day income of Nepalis is shamefully low and the government is preparing policies and strategies for a fast rise in the per capita income of the Nepalese people.
