Earthquake And Tsunami Hit Japan

March 11, 2011: a powerful earthquake of 8.9 magnitude hit the northern Japan early on Friday; immediately after the quake, a 30ft high tsunami also hit it causing huge damage to man and property including nuclear power stations.

Hundreds of people are feared dead and thousands said to be missing. One train is derailed and four trains are missing. One boat with 100 people on board is swept away by tsunami.

Affected nuclear power plants are shut down to prevent any radiation leak from them. The government has declared a state of nuclear emergency. Consequently, millions of Japanese are living without power.

Tsunami has hit Hawaii and San Francisco coasts. No damage is reported in Hawaii but the Eight-foot high waves emanating from Japan tsunami has crushed forty boats and destroyed much of Crescent City harbor in California. One man taking the pictures of the high waves is swept away and reported missing in San Francisco.
