September 10, 2012: a cabinet meeting held today has decided to send a bill on amending the Act on Appointing Commissioners to various commissions to the Head of State for issuing a presidential ordinance. However, the Head of State has been holding three bills on various subjects the cabinet had sent for the presidential ordinances rater than out right rejecting them as he did in the previous one case. The Head of State is surely not cooperating with the government on smooth running the administration.
Speaking at an event held to mark the 99th anniversary of BP Koirala at the BP Museum in Sundarijal, Kathmandu today, Head of State President Dr Ram Baran Yadav said that political leaders shouldn’t focus the attention on grabbing state power only rather focus on building a political consensus on breaking the current constitutional and political deadlock. President Yadav said, “Political parties are intensively engaged in power game which has even jeopardized the status of democracy in Nepal,” according to ‘THT ONLINE’
Addressing the army officers at the headquarters of the Nepal Army in Kathmandu, newly appointed CoAS General Gaurav Shumsher Rana today said that the Nepal Army would play an appropriate role in completing the peace process. "The Nepal Army has a major responsibility to contribute to conclusion of the ongoing peace process to meet the aspirations of the Nepali people for peaceful progress and undivided Nepal," nepalnews.com quotes CoAS Rana as saying while addressing the assembly of senior army officers at the Nepal Army headquarters.
Nepal Police have been providing Supreme Court justices such as Kalyan Shrestha and Baidhyanath Upadhayay with special security, after they received threats. The two justices of the Supreme Court of Nepal had convicted former minister and influential NC leader Khum Bahdur Khadka of corruption and sent him to jail but the NC cadres had been protesting against the ruling of the Supreme Court of Nepal stating the ruling was biased against their leader corrupt Khadka, according to ‘HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE’.
NC Central Working Committee member Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat said today that the country could not hold more than six federal states stating only a few states could have enough resources to run the administration indicating the so-called economic expert has missed the idea of how the states could mobilize resources.
