A team of the Parliamentary Committee on State Affairs has visited Sudan to ascertain the facts and figures and has prepared a report on it, and has turned it over to the CIAA nine months ago. The team has found that Rs. 350 million had been embezzled in purchasing Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) for Nepal Police peacekeepers in the UN Mission in Sudan.
In the lawsuit filed in the court against Ruwel Choudhary: son-in-law of Deputy Prime Minister Sujata Koirala recently, the petitioner has stated that Mr. Choudhary has been involved in purchasing the sub-standard armored vehicles and equipment for the Nepal Police peacekeepers in the UN Mission in Sudan.
The UN has rejected the substandard armored vehicles and equipment and refused to reimburse the money to the Nepal Police that has used the money borrowed from the provident fund of the Nepal Police for purchasing the armored vehicles and equipment.
