Issue 27, July 03, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

June 28, 2011: the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued yesterday warrants for the arrest of Libyan leader Colonel Muammar Gaddafi, his son Seif al-Islam al-Gaddafi, and the Libyan chief of intelligence, Abdullah al-Senussi, for crimes against humanity.

Libya has rejected the warrants issued for the arrest of its leader Muammar Gaddafi, his son Saif al-Islam, and the Libyan chief of intelligence for alleged atrocities committed against political opponents after the popular uprising in Libya recently. The ruling is a "cover for NATO which is still trying to assassinate Gaddafi", Mohammed al-Gamudi, Libya's justice minister, said according to the news posted on the website English.aljazeera.net.

ICC judge Sanji Mmasenono Monageng has said that the evidence submitted by ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno-Ocampo has enough grounds to arrest the three for the guilty of murder and the persecution of civilians in other words crimes against humanity.

At the same time, NATO has continued its air strikes in the Gaddafi stronghold of Tripoli, and the Libyan patriots continue to move forward to Tripoli reaching about 50 miles from there.
