FNCCI Putting Pressure On Political Parties For Consensus Politics

Issue 20, May 16, 2010

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

May 14, 2010: at the press conference held in Kathmandu on Thursday, May 13, 2010 to make public the decisions made by FNCCI, President of Federation of Nepal Chambers of Commerce and industry (FNCCI) has said that FNCCI gives two days means Friday and Saturday to the leaders of the three major political parties such as UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML for working on the consensus politics if they don’t work on the consensus politics by the deadline set by FNCCI then the business and industrial community would not give any donations to any political parties and even would not pay taxes if such a need arises, and would hold peace rallies at all the 75 districts across the country for  putting pressure on the political parties.

President Joshi has also complained to the reporters that when a team of FNCCI went to see the Prime Minister asking him to pave the way for the consensus politics after the UCPN-Maoist has called off the indefinite shutdown Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has refused to listen to the team rather has made ridiculous charges against the business community.

Some leaders of NC and CPN-UML have been nervous of the business and industrial community not going to pay even taxes if the current political deadlock continues. They have said that the community needs to unfold the amounts of donations paid to the political parties rather than threatening not to pay taxes.
