Regional Conference On Climate Change

On August 31, 2009, Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has opened a two-day ‘Regional Conference On Climate Change’ titled 'Kathmandu to Copenhagen' in Kathmandu. Addressing the conference Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has said that joint efforts of all nations are required for mitigating the impact of climate change, as it has affected all nations. He has informed that the impact of the climate change has already seen on the Himalayas, so, the government of Nepal has formulated policies and programs and has allocated the budget to implement them.
Lawmakers, experts, journalists, and policy makers from the South Asian countries have assembled in Kathmandu to discuss the impact of climate change on the Himalayan region and then formulate the strategies to mitigate the challenges posed by the climate change. These strategies will be presented as the common agenda of the South Asian nations at the 15th Climate Conference to be held in Copenhagen, Denmark in December 2009.
ADB, DANIDA, DFID, and the World Bank have jointly sponsored this regional conference.
