By KTM Metro Reporter

February 21, 2011: senior advocate Shree Hari Aryal has quit his position of senior advocate of the Supreme Court of Nepal protesting against the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nepal taking actions against justice Balaram KC indicted for not doing his duty properly, and against charging himself with an obstruction to the process of justice dispensation in the corruption case of former minister and NC leader Chiranjivi Wagle at the Supreme Court of Nepal, ‘HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE’ reports today.

Hearing on the corruption case filed by the Commission on Investigation into Abuse of Authority (CIAA) against former minister and NC leader Chiranjivi Wagle, the Special Court has ordered former minister and NC leader Wagle to return 27.5 million rupees to the state coffer misappropriated by him, imposed a fine of Rs 2.72 million on him for corruption actions he has taken during his days in office, and sentenced him to the two-and-a half year jail term.

A hearing on the appeal for reviewing the ruling of the Special Court is supposed to be held by a division bench of Chief Justice Ram Prasad Shrestha and senior most justice Khil Raj Regmi of the Supreme Court of Nepal on March 16, 2011.

Thanks to justice like Mr. Aryal, corrupt former minister and NC leader Chiranjivi Wagle has enjoyed freedom from punishments so far and has been avoiding the need for returning the state money he has pocketed while he was a minister.
