August 31, 2013: Human Rights Watch says that the parents of Adhikari deserves the answer of their query who have killed his son; impartial investigations into wartime abuses needed; investigations and prosecutions for grave abuses committed by both sides to the conflict are long overdue and should be a priority for the government.
The authorities in Nepal need to ensure that the new investigation into the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari allegedly killed by the Maoists in 2004, proceeds without political interference, Human Rights Watch said yesterday.
Adhikari’s parents have been on the fast-unto-death demanding the murder of their son to bring to justice. Today, a group of people concerned with the abuse of human rights demonstrated at the Nepal Rastra Bank demanding the investigation into the killing of Krishna Prasad Adhikari as the riot police stopped them from going further to the residence of the prime minister.
The government says that it has initiated the investigation into the killing of Adhikari but the Adhikari parents have not broken their fasting. They are determined either to die or to find out the murders of their son, and then bring them to justice.
