Making Lawmakers Above Law

KTM Metro Reporter

June 5, 2018

Kathmandu: Lawmakers could murder, rape, steal or smuggle or involve in any crimes without losing their status of lawmakers. Yes, that is exactly what NC lawmakers are trying to do.

Blocking the Bill on the parliamentary rules from submitting at the House of Representatives, NC lawmakers have demanded to delete the provision made for suspending any lawmakers involved in crime from the Bill. NC lawmakers have even threatened to boycott the House session if the ruling party tries to submit the Bill without deleting the provision for suspending the lawmakers for any crimes they commit, the local media news stated.

No matter what lawmakers do, kill or rape or stole or smuggle, they could remain as lawmakers; that is exactly what NC lawmakers wanted. That is the most shameful shame on the NC lawmakers that have stood for making the lawmakers above the law.

NC lawmakers completely disregarded that in absence of the parliamentary rules different parliamentary committees including the parliamentary hearing committee could not be set up. Consequently, the appointment of chief justice, and ambassadors to different diplomatic mission could not be appointed, as the parliamentary hearing committee that is to hear on the recommend appointees for the chief justice and ambassadors does not exist.
