National Government

On July 1, 2009, speaking to the reporters in his hometown Chitwan, Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist Prachanda has said that his party will form a national government within months. He also has said that he has already initiated the talks with the leaders of the CPN-UML and NC on this matter. The politburo meeting of his party has passed the agenda on forming a new national government on Monday June 29, 2009.
At the same time speaking to the reporters in Kathmandu, Chairman of CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal has said that the Maoist will not be able to form a new government; so he has called on the Maoists to join the current government.
Prime Minister Madhav Nepal has claimed that the current government is the national government. However, he has a problem of steering it smoothly, as even his own party leaders have not been cooperating with him on properly functioning the government.
