DR KC Breaks His Hunger Strike

KTM Metro Reporter

August 17, 2017

Kathmandu: Dr Govinda KC has been on hunger strike for more than 20 days demanding for improvement in the Medical Education and demanding for stopping opening any medical schools in the Kathmandu Valley. He ended his huger strike stating the nation has been suffering from the natural disaster; so, he does not want to add insult to injury continuing his fasting.

The main opposition CPN-UML has been demanding Dr KC to end the fasting before the Bill on Medical Education is put to a vote at the parliament. Mind it some of the lawmakers belonging to the CPN-UML have the interest in not allowing to pass the bill, as it will adversely affect their economic interest.

Dr KC also needs to understand that the Kathmandu Valley has not sufficient hospitals including the teaching hospitals to meet the demands of patients for health services. Dr KC must have seen the crowds of patients at the Maharajgunj Teaching Hospital where he has been serving as an orthopedic if not he could visit Patan Hospital and see the crowds of patients the hospital management has hard to tackle with the current manpower.

What is Dr KC’s interest in demanding to stop the opening of medical schools in the Kathmandu Valley is certainly mystery until Dr KC does satisfactorily explained to the public. Dr KC also needs to be held accountable for the sufferings of the patients caused by his supporters stopping the health services at the State-owned hospitals, and causing billions of NPR worth of loss to the Maharajgunj Teaching Hospitals and other State-owned hospitals.
