Nepalese President In New Delhi

On February 16, 2010, Indian President Pratibha Patil has hosted a banquet at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi in honor of the visiting First President of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and has said that India and Nepal have the perpetual relationship since ancient time; and India is always ready to help Nepal for peace and prosperity. The Indian President has specifically pinpointed hydropower, tourism and agriculture sectors for bilateral cooperation.

Nepalese President Dr. Yadav in turn has said that the foundation of the Nepal-India relations is as deep as Indian Ocean and as strong as Himalaya, so this relation will last for centuries as has been in the past. Concerning the political development in Nepal, President Dr. Yadav has said that after the historical political change in Nepal, Nepal has committed to complete the peace process, and to enforce the rule of law and multi-party democracy.

Similarly, Indian Prime Minister Dr. Man Mohan Singh has hosted a lunch in honor of Nepalese President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav at Hyderabad House in New Delhi on February 16, 2010.

In presence of Nepalese President Dr. Yadav and Indian Prime Minister Dr. Singh, Nepalese Minister for Tourism and Aviation Sharad Singh Bhandari and Indian Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna have signed on the agreement on expansion of air services between the two countries.

Similarly, Nepalese Ambassador to India and Indian Foreign Secretary have signed on other three memorandums of understanding on extending Indian railways from its border towns to Nepalese five border towns such as Nepalgunj, Bhairava, Birgunj, Biratnagar and Kakarbhita in Nepal, on constructing a Nepal-India cooperation building in Birgunj, and building a polytechnic institute in Hetauda.

Indian Vice-president Hamind Ansari, several Indian Ministers, and Chairman of United People’s Alliance Sonia Gandhi have individually met with Nepalese President Dr. Yadav at the Taj Palace Hotel on February 16, 2010.
