House Passes The Amendment Bill

Issue 46, November 13, 2011

By KTM Metro Reporter

November 13, 2011: the parliament yesterday has passed the Bill on amending the Interim Constitution of Nepal of 2007 to make the provision for setting up an expert committee on state-restructuring that has been the most disputed subject matter in the course of writing a new constitution. The Interim Constitution has the provision for setting up a commission on this subject but the political leaders have agreed on setting up an expert committee instead of the commission.

Law Minister Brijesh Kumar Gupta has submitted this Bill on amending the Interim Constitution in the House session on Friday but the House had no presence of the minimum number of the members of the House required to pass the bill. So, the House has passed it on Saturday by the majority votes.
