A Dalit On Commission On State Restructuring

November 25, 2011: after a strong protest against none of the dalits is included on the commission on state restructuring, leaders of UCPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML sat together at the state secretariat in Kathmandu and made a decision on including a dalit on the commission yesterday.

The government set up an eight-member commission on state restructuring on Tuesday, November 15, 2011 following the agreement leaders of the three major parties and the Madheshi front reached.

The commission is for making recommendations on the number of states to be set up and their names for including in a new constitution to be promulgated by the Constituent Assembly. The commission has two months to do the most challenging task.
