Human Rights Deteriorating In Nepal

May 6, 2012: speaking at the function held to mark 20th anniversary of Informal Sector Service Centre (INSEC):one of the human rights organizations in Nepal today, Chairman of National Human Rights Commission Kedarnath Upadhyay has said that violence of human rights has been in the rising trend due to the political indifference, ‘The Himalayan Times’ writes.

Chairman Upadhyay has said that human rights situation in Nepal has been deteriorating, as the political parties have ignored to consult the rights activists, civil society and other bodies concerned before making decisions on the matters of human rights.

Chairman Upadhyay has said that unfortunately, the political parties have made unilateral decisions on the formation of the Commission on Truth and Reconciliation, the Commission on enforced disappearances, and on giving general amnesty to the perpetrators of human rights violence.

Speaking at the same function, senior human rights activist Padma Ratna Tuladhar has stressed the need of the human rights organizations for playing an active role in maintaining human rights in Nepal.

Chief commissioner of National Information Commission Binay Kumar Kasaju has appreciated the role of INSEC in the democratic movements and fighting for human rights in Nepal.
