Case Of Contempt Of Court Filed

May 14, 2013: Advocate Anjani Kumar Pokhrel yesterday filed a contempt of court case against Chairman of Kantipur publications Kailash Sirohiya, Director Swastika Sirohiya, Chief Editor Sudhir Sharma and journalist writer Bijaya Kumar Pandey accusing the article written by Pandey and published in the ‘Kantipur’ on the Saturday, May 11, 2013 of contemptuous of the judiciary, according to ‘HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE’.
Speaking to the team of the Press Chautari at his office on Sunday, May 12, 2013, Acting Chief of the Supreme Court of Nepal Damodar Prasad Sharma has said that the judiciary will always take the side of the reporters and journalists; the court and journalism are the supplementary to each other; the court and the press will not be strong without the support of each other; the court has ruled the cases of the press positively even with the general evidence, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of yesterday.
Reporters and journalists reporting and writing sincerely and bringing the facts to the notice of the public often risked their lives. If journalists are writing false stories then the state or the court is sure to bring them to justice but writing sincerely and reporting facts, reporters and journalists should not be afraid of anything, and no matter how long they would need to serve jail term. That would be the real award or medal for the journalists and the reporters rather than the medals and award receiving from the state.
