Dr. Baburam Bhattarai: Pleasing and Serving Whom?
By KTM Metro Reporter
July 10, 2011: today morning, the state-run ‘Radio Nepal’ has repeatedly aired the news that Vice-chairman of UCPN-Maoist Dr. Baburam Bhattarai in his home district Gorkha has said, “we should not forget the contributions made by Prithvi Narayan Shah in unification of Nepal.”
However, the descendants of the victims of Prithvi Narayan that had cut the noses and ears of the people in Kirtipur after a number of repeated attacks on the Kirtipurians, tricking them to come out assuring them of doing nothing against them but he had cut the noses and ears of those people that had bravely fought against the intruder like Prithvi Narayan are not in a mood to forget the violence perpetuated by Prithvi Narayan and forgive Dr. Bhattarai for his strategy to be a prime minister serving wrong people at the cost of the victims of Prithvi Narayan Shah.
The people in Kirtipur have asked Dr. Bhattarai ignoring these historical facts and appreciating the man that had perpetuated such unforgivable crimes has been trying to please somebody means whether Dr. Bhattarai is meeting his goal of to be a prime minister at the cost of the victims of the criminal like Prithvi Narayan Shah. They also ask whether Dr. Bhattarai deserves to be a new prime minister if he is serving somebody’s interest just to be a new prime minister rather than working in the interest of the entire Nepalis.
Dr. Bhattarai is one of those leaders that had perpetuated the violence against innocent people forcing the people to serve them with foods and shelter and forcing them to pay large amount of money for running their people’s war. Victims of the violence of the leaders like Dr. Bhattarai and Prithvi Narayan Shah will never forgive them.
Dr. Bhattarai should not forget that the Panchayat rulers erecting the statue of Prithvi Narayan Shah right in front of the gate to the Singhdurbar in Kathmandu had justified the violence and crimes committed by Prithvi Narayan Shah. His statue has been the constant reminder of the nose and ear cutting of the Kirtipurians. If justice is to be done to the victims of cruel Prithvi Narayan Shah, the statue should go from that place immediately.
