U.S. Offers Pakistan Drones In Exchange For Cooperation

Issue 04, January 24, 2010

BY KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On January 21, 2010, the US has offered Pakistani authorities spy drones (unmanned aerial vehicles) in exchange for fighting against the Islamic militants on the Afghanistan border according to the western media reports quoting US Defense Secretary Robert Gates telling the Pakistani TV anchor. The drones will enhance the Pakistanis’ reconnaissance and surveillance capability and will provide the army with video of the targets to hit from the ground or the air.

Pakistan might use the drones for surveillance in Kashmir rather than using for finding the targets to hit Taliban on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border or in Pakistan. So, these drones might be a big headache for the Indian authorities.
