On Thursday, October 18, 2007, Interim Head of State and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala received the guard of honor from the Nepali Army at the traditional Fulpati function held at Tundikhel in Kathmandu. Until last year, the Shah Kings used to do so but from this year the Interim Head of State received it. Interim Head of State and Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala also received the salute offered by the Nepali Army.

Suspended King Gyanendra defying the government’s restriction on going to Hanumandhoka on Fulpati day went there and made offerings to Goddess Taleju at the Dashain Ghar. He managed to put up a show of his support probably engaging some of the army men posted at the palace in civil dress for shouting in his support. However, he also faced the people’s anger at him.
