Cabinet recommends Gurung for Army Chief of Staff

On August 26, 2009, the cabinet has made a recommendation to President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav for appointing Acting Chief of Army Staff Chattraman Singh Gurung to the Chief of Army Staff. On the recommendation of the Cabinet, President Dr. Yadav would appoint Gurung to the Chief of Army Staff making it effective on September 11, 2009.
The cabinet has also decided to extend the terms of Major Generals Krishna Sumsher Jung Bahadur Rana, and Chet Man Singh Basnet and Brigadier General Bikash Bikram Shah for three years according to the spokesperson for the government.
