Nepal-India Security Talks in Kathmandu

Issue 45, November 8, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

On November 6, 2009, Secretary to Home Minister Govinda Prasad Kusum led the Nepalese team to hold the two-day talks with the Indian eleven-member team headed by Secretary to Indian Home Ministry G.K. Pillai on cross-border criminal activities, securities on border and extradition in Kathmandu. The Indian team is more interested in the extradition and wants to have a treaty signed on it as soon as possible.

At the same time the state-run newspaper ‘Gorkhapatra’ of November 7, 2009 has reported that the Indian businesspersons have shut down the Rupdehya market near Nepalgunj on November 6 in protest against the Indian Border Security forces harassing the Nepalese shoppers and drastically decreasing their businesses.
