UCPN-Maoist’s Policy On Madheshi

Issue 06, February 8, 2009

By KTM Metro Reporter in Kathmandu

February 3, 2009: The Unified Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist (UCPN-Maoist) has said that its policy on Madheshi is to strengthen the underprivileged Madheshi people to counter the supremacy of the landlords and other privileged people in the Madheshi political parties. So, the UCPN-Maoist would be working with the Madheshi, dalit, landless peasants, freed bonded laborers and other downtrodden people in Madhesh.

The UCPN-Maoist has said that the leaders of the Madheshi parties representing landlords and privileged people have been advocating for ‘One Madhehsi One Province’ ignoring the reality of so many different Madheshi ethnic groups such as Maithli, Bhojpuri, Avadhi, Tharu and so on. So, the UCPN-Maoist is not for a single Madhesh province but several autonomous states.
