By KTM Metro Reporter

June 19, 2013: spokesperson for the Ministry of Home said that the Central Natural Disaster Rescue Committee has decided to provide each of the victims of the recent floods in Darchula and Kanchanpur with the immediate relief of Rs 50,000 each; medicines, drinking water treatment machines and other food items would follow, according to gorkhapatraonline.com.

Ministry of Health and Population, Ministry of Urban Development and Nepal Red Cross Society have been made responsible for providing relief materials as soon as possible. These ministries and Nepal Red Cross would airlift the materials to the headquarters of the Darchula district.

According to the morning news of the Radio Nepal today, people have been sleeping under the parked buses in absence of shelter. Some of the people have been without any overhead shelter. They are soaked to the bone in the rainwater.

Locals of the Darchula district have demanded the government to send an official mission to the flood-hit areas to ascertain the damages done, and to provide the victims of the flood with immediate relief. Some of them complained that Kathmandu has failed in taking immediate actions.

The Interim Election Council of Ministers held an emergency meeting at official residence of chairman of council of ministers yesterday morning to decide how to reach the victims of the floods in the west, according to the news in ‘gorkhapatra’ of today. The government has decided to monitor the flood situation in the west continuously.
